ANTIQUE JAPANESE (c. 1880) SIGNED CRYPTOMERIA WOOD LIDDED TABAKOBON BOX TANSU

Description

This is a Meiji antique original storage lidded box for
Tabakobon
. This box has Japanese writings - 6 sets of Tabakobon, owned by
Nakashiki Kinei ichi.
This box is made of
sugi
(cryptomeria) wood with a lift out lidded face (see pictures 8 & 9).
Old world craftsmanship - made with wooden pinned box joints (see last picture).  Also included in Japanese writing on both the front of this box is the name of the store:  Nabeya Kishu as well as the word:  Tabakobon.
This box has been well used yet well loved and, with the exception of a few minor signs of past
use and a 140 + year old patina
,  it remains in
fine condition
throughout
